St. Joseph Catholic School is excited to offer full day kindergarten
and morning preschool for the 2010-2011 school year. The full
day kindergarten will allow students to attend five days a week all
day long. Full day kindergarten offers more time for enrichment in
language arts, literacy activities and math fundamentals. The
teacher and students are able to delve more deeply into key
topics increasing their knowledge in all areas. Most children who
attend a full day kindergarten are better prepared for the first
grade because they spend more time learning during the year.
All these academics will be offered in a spiritual environment that
St. Joseph Catholic School prides itself on.
In an effort to provide greater flexibility for our parents and
children, St. Joseph Catholic School is also offering an alternative
schedule for students who do not want to attend full day.
Students will attend all day on Tuesday and Thursday with half
day sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. At the end of
each quarter, a student has the option to move up to a full day
schedule.
Mrs. Melody Baxter will be the kindergarten teacher for the
2010-2011 school year. Mrs. Baxter has thirty years of teaching
experience with the last nine years at St. Joseph Catholic School.
She has a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a
minor in sociology and a Master of Arts Degree.
The second exciting change offered by St. Joseph Catholic
School is a change to a morning pre-school schedule. St. Joseph
Catholic School is going to offer morning three and four year old
pre-school sessions. In the past years, these were afternoon
sessions. The three year old sessions will be on Tuesday and
Thursday from 8:30am to 11:30am. The four year old sessions
will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30am to
11:30am.
