8th graders were asked to write an advertisement
to explain to people why choosing St. Joseph School is
a smart choice.  Here are some examples,
written by current and former 8th graders.

St. Joseph's is a great school!  I think people should
come to St. Joe's because, for one thing, we are
allowed to talk about God and the religion that we
believe in.  The teachers are really nice, and they're
always happy to help the students.  Also, there are
smaller class sizes than there are in the public
school, so it is easier to get everyone's attention in
order to get through a lesson.  All the students are
also very nice, and there is rarely anyone ever that
is left out.  Even though St. Joe's is a very small
school, that can be a good thing.  For instance, we
don't have overcrowded classrooms, or a very large
school building.  What we do have, however, is one
classroom per grade, and very nice students and staff
members.  We pray before and after classes, and before
meals. We all believe in one God, and we even have
some sport teams.  But what really matters is our
faith, and that is why I think someone should come to
St. Joseph Catholic School.

You can persuade someone to come to St. Joseph's School by telling them how
great it is.  The classes are amazing and very small.  The teachers are also very nice.  
We have sports and activities such as student council, intramural, volleyball,
basketball, flag football, choir, ecology club and band.  

It is also very nice, because the teachers give us more attention since the classes are
small.  We unfortunately do get homework, but we actually do learn something from
it.  We get recess  too.  It gives us a chance to get fresh air.  St. Joseph School is a
great school, and you should think about attending here.

I would persuade someone to come to
St. Joe's by telling them that it has a
good education and it the best school
that I've ever seen, because I went to
two other schools before coming here.
 

St. Joseph's has nice teachers, a nice
gym and nice people.  They make you
feel welcomed.  The school is clean.  
The teachers are very good at
teaching.  At my other schools, the
teachers didn't teach that well.  When
you go on field trips, they are very fun.  
Some of the field trips that we went on
were Springfield and Body World.  And
the Science labs are a lot of fun to do.  
Everyone is nice to you.  

If you are thinking of coming to St.
Joe's in Manhattan, you should come
because it is the greatest school ever.
I am proud to say that I am a graduate of St.
Joseph Catholic Grade School.  My eight years
at St. Joseph School not only provided me with
an exceptional educational experience, but it
nurtured me spiritually as well.  I feel that
because of the strong academic curriculum
taught at St. Joe's, I was very well prepared for
the challenges of honors classes at
Lincoln-Way Central High School.  I am very
grateful for all the wonderful memories that I
have of St. Joseph School, but most of all for
the strong Catholic-oriented education that I
received.
