ST. JOSEPH STUDENTS REMEMBER VETERANS
BY REPLICATING THE VIETNAM WALL

Under the guidance of 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Cathy Kowalczyk, students submitted names of friends and relatives who
are serving or have served in the Armed Forces and they were placed on our Viet Nam Wall for all students to view.
Like the actual Wall, this one now has pictures of veterans and flowers to mark the memory of those who served.  In
addition, Mr. Frank Kowalczyk, a veteran of the Viet Nam War, came and talked to the students about his service and
that he is just one of many who stand or stood in harm’s way to protect our freedoms and liberties.  Mrs. Kowalczyk read
to the students a story about a father who takes his son to the Wall in Washington D.C. so that they can find the name of
the young boy’s grandfather on the Wall.  The Wall has brought to the students of St. Joseph Catholic School an
appreciation of the sacrifices people have made to keep America safe and strong.
